NBCU's Yaccarino Promoted To Chairman, Global Advertising, Partnerships

NBCUniversal has promoted Linda Yaccarino to chairman, global advertising and partnerships, expanding her responsibilities across new divisions.

Her responsibilities now include local advertising sales and strategic initiatives teams as well as overseeing a new “cross-functional data strategy” business. Yaccarino will also add local and regional sports network sales.

In her previous position as chairman of advertising and client partnerships at NBCUniversal, Yaccarino had oversight of all national advertising sales, ad-sales marketing, and global partnerships.

The move is intended to help NBCU work more seamlessly under its new One Platform media-planning, ad-buying and advertising management platform launched recently along with with NBCU’s ad-supported streaming platform, Peacock.

Yaccarino will head an effort to create a new data strategy unit -- a unified, “privacy safe identity” platform. NBCUniversal will soon announce a chief data officer executive to head up this business.

As part of this announcement Frank Comerford will continue as chief revenue officer for local sales for the NBC local TV stations, multicast and locally-based digital networks and regional sports networks.

Comerford will report to Yaccarino. He will also continue to work with Valari Staab, president of NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations.

Yaccarino will continue to report directly to Jeff Shell, chief executive officer of NBCUniversal.

In a memo to NBCU staffers, she writes that NBCU’s media platform now extends “from local to global, across cable and broadcast, digital and streaming.”

She adds: “While there is no doubt we are a content and technology company at our core, we need to keep accelerating our business plans to define entertainment and build the future of advertising.”
