U.S. Newspapers React To Biden Victory

The people deemed Joe Biden the next president-elect of the United States this weekend, after projections showed him flipping Pennsylvania and racking up more than 270 electoral votes, the number needed to win the 2020 presidency.

Newspapers across the country announced the news on Sunday with bold headlines and full front-page stories.

Many newspapers quoted Biden’s victory speech in their front-page headlines, specifically a line he delivered at the drive-in rally in Wilmington, Delaware, where he called this a “time to heal.”

Newspapers from TheArizona Republic to The Sunday Denver Post, the New Hampshire Sunday Monitor to The Seattle Times, spread those three words across their front pages.

Most newspapers across the country had the simple headline: “Biden Wins.”

“Biden Prevails” was also a popular headline across newspapers’ front pages.

“Biden Defeats Trump,” announced The Washington Post.

“Biden Takes the Prize,” read The Miami Herald.

“Biden Vows to Unify,” was across the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.

“Biden, Harris, and History,” read TheBoston Sunday Globe.

The Marin Independent Journal declared it a “Seismic Change for the Nation.”

The New York Daily News put a spin on Biden’s name: “Joebilation”

“After long week, a new president,” read The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“It’s Joe Time,” quipped the Chicago Sun-Times.

“New president, folks,” was splashed across The Salt Lake Tribune in Utah.

President Donald Trump has not yet conceded the election to Biden.
