Can You Guess How Many Instagram Influencers Live In Wyoming?

Now you don’t have to, thanks to a comprehensive new study from Influencity that does a deep dive into the Instagram influencer community in the U.S., with detailed state-by-state breakouts.

The company, with offices in Toronto and Los Angeles, reports that there are about 89.9 million Instagram users in the U.S. and that approximately 8.3 million of them (or 9.3%) are considered influencers. The firm used proprietary AI-powered software to crunch the numbers.

The study found that California has the largest number of Instagram influencers, with close to 2.2 million, followed by New York (nearly 1.2 million), Texas (682,290), Florida (566,566) and Georgia (398,604).

And Wyoming? About 780.

The study provides a breakdown of the different influencer segments, ranging from nano-influencers (up to 10,000 followers) to mega-influencers (1 million-plus). Women account for 61% of the total Instagram influencer community in the U.S., according to the study.

It reports what percent of the population of each state uses Instagram, as well as the percent of influencers per state. Using California as an example, the state’s population is roughly 39.5 million. About 30% are Instagram users, while 5% are considered influencers.

The vast majority of influencers -- 93.7% -- of the nano variety. And California has about 1.9 million of them, or about 29% of the total nano-influencer pie. Macro-influencers (200,000-1 million followers) across Instagram total 16,860, or about 0.02% of the total influencer community.

I could go on, but you can access more breakouts from the study yourself right here.
