Trump Actually Won The Election By A Landslide

So I got an email over the weekend from the Trump campaign telling me how Trump actually won the election by a landslide and the how the “Fake News media is NEGLECTING to report serious evidence of voting irregularities.”

Then the email asked for money.

I know, it’s laughable -- any person with a brain recognizes that. Still, it makes me wish for some kind of vetting process from Google on the political misinformation that pours into my inbox via Gmail.

Trump saying he won by a landslide in an email to millions of people amounts to mail fraud. And let’s face it -- some will believe it because he said it.

And if Twitter can own its responsibility to flag certain steaming piles of BS (SPOBS) tweeted by Trump, why can’t Google figure out a way to flag similar SPOBS flowing through its email routes?

Marking them as spam isn’t enough. Why should our accounts be cluttered unnecessarily by missives from fraudsters, liars and losers like Trump?

This kind of material should not be allowed to hit any recipients’ mailbox except the senders — rerouted by Google with a “Return To Sender” note from the company explaining that it does not distribute SPOBS.

You've got to be kidding. Are you actually asking Google to censor emails addressed to you because you might not agree with the opinions they express? I get a lot of emails that express opinions I don't agree with -- many of yours, for example -- but the beauty of the system we have here in America is that, barring violations of the law, you have the right to send those emails and I have the right to make my own judgment about them, to read them or ignore them. The idea of asking Google to intermediate our judgment and freedoms is far more repulsive than any SPOBS any of us will ever receive.

So you want email providers and social media to make George Orwell's 1984 come to life? Censorship by people that aren't elected or even known to us?  Maybe they should censor you instead

Agree 1000%.  What a frightening concept.

It will be interesting to see if the Mediapost staff gets back to offering commentary that provokes thought and insightful observations about the advertising and marketing industries when Biden is president vs. using the platfgorm to regularly promote their own political bias during Trump's presidency.

Remember, for those who are upset by the opinions of some of our commentators, you are free not to read them just as you are recommending to our writer here that he do with Trump emails. If anyone wishes to unsubscribe to this newsletter or all of MediaPost, because of the opinions we publish, just send me a request at ken@mediapoat.com.

Kenneth - Mediapost has been relatively tone deaf here, as is your dismissive response.

Over the last few weeks, staff has asked for reader feedback on politics, endorsing a candidate, etc.  The vast majority have stated that if politics affects the industry through legislation or new guidelines, we'd like to know. Also, if a politician is doing something creative to engage an audience (i.e. AOC using Twitch to engage her consitutuents), we'd like to know.

However, political commentary has become quite prevalant with Mediapost and this "commentary" is not offering insight or observation - it's the author complaining about perceived spam from a political candidate that he does not support. His solution is for his email client to now read his emails and decide what is fact vs. someone's else's opinion and if he should even receive the email in the first place.  That is preposterous and putting total power into a third party entity to decide what should or should not be censored.

Mediapost commentary is falling into the same trap that many traditional news outlets have - headlines are clickbait vs. substance and Mediapost is a trade publication.  Start listening to your readers' comments instead of dimsissing them by saying "hey, you don't like it, don't read it."  We are all professionals.  We know how to unsubscribe from a newsletter. Your instruction to email you a request to be removed from the newsletter illustrates that you are missing the point entirerly.

Pretty sure you offered an incorrect email address for yourself as well.

    @Jim Meyer

    "Opinions"?

Facts vs Lies. And lies equal fraud (especially when Trump is failing to mention what money actually goes to his “Official Election Defense Fund” and what goes to pay his debt... and if you follow debt paying Trump's history it's kind of a laughable claim).
