Email security firm Proofpoint has named Joe Sykora as its first global channel chief, according to CRN.

Previously, Sykora served as vice president of global sales and channels at Romania-based Bitdefender, CRN reports. Prior to that, Sykora worked for Fortinet. 

Proofpoint reportedly hopes to increase its channel partner business, which Sykora had driven at Bitdefender.

Before this, the highest channel executive in Proofpoint was Keith Joseph, vice president of American channel sales, CRN continues. 

Sykora resigned from Bitdefender three months ago, CRN adds.
