Matt McGinnis, former product marketing manager at 8x8 and Ring Central, has founded Illumy, a “hyper-communications” platform. 

The new app brings together email, messaging, group chat, video and voice calling, according to an article in NoJitter. 

Consumers who sign up for Illumy receive a protected digital identity. The company follows “a person-centric model, not an ad-driven business model,” and consumers control their own data, the article says.

McGinnis believes “people should be able to email, message, group chat, call, and video meet with each other, regardless of where in the world they are, what networks they’re on, and which devices they use,” NoJitter adds.
