The Mill Appoints Mandel CEO As It Expands Marketing Practice

Production house The Mill has appointed agency veteran Josh Mandel global CEO as the company expands its offering to develop and execute work directly for brands.

Mandel will have oversight of the company’s operations across its studios in London, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Berlin and Bangalore. And he is tasked with exploring opportunities for further global expansion.

His appointment comes as The Mill continues to expand its capabilities in the creative marketing, production, experiential and visual effects space.

His multi-faceted background makes him well suited to help The Mill navigate this post-pandemic mission.  He has experience client side via Nike and agency side at Wieden+Kennedy, 72andSunny, RGA & 180Amsterdam, and, most recently, on the production side at The Mill which he joined in 2019. His career spans across Europe, Mexico and the U.S.

Previous acting CEO David Patton will now turn his focus to growing the wider advertising division at The Mill’s parent company Technicolor.

Within his role as global president of creative experience and advertising at Technicolor, Patton will continue to be responsible for leading MPC Advertising, The Mill and Mikros creative production studios.

Mandel’s a “strong strategist” and has a “good grasp” of how the creative industry is evolving and the opportunities being created for The Mill, states Patton. “This is a critical step up for Josh in recognition of the great strategic work he has done with The Mill since his arrival. I believe he is perfectly placed to build the business for even greater success in the future.”
