IM Use Surges

  • November 10, 2005
Instant messaging is fast replacing e-mail among young online users, according to a new study by America Online. Two out of three--66 percent--of 4,032 surveyed online users between the ages of 13 and 21 reported sending more instant messages than e-mails. That figure represents a substantial increase from last year, when less than half -- 49 percent--of survey respondents said they sent more IMs than e-mails.
