'Washington Post' Launches Climate-Related Podcast With Alex Honnold

The Washington Post Creative Group has launched a podcast series on the climate in partnership with Rolex.

The four-part series, titled “Planet Visionaries,” is anchored by free-solo climber Alex Honnold.

Honnold will interview environmental explorers from the U.S., Argentina, U.K. and Peru on climate solutions each month.

The first episode, titled “The Ocean Explorer Turned Environmentalist,” features marine biologist Sylvia Earle, the first woman to walk on the ocean floor in 1979. She will discuss the issues that most impact ocean life, as well as highlight her organization “Mission Blue,” which is designed to inspire climate solutions and help protect the ocean.

The series expands Rolex’s collaboration with WaPo, work that includes the Climate Solutions initiative, coverage that explores people and organizations focused on environmental problems.

“Building on our work with Rolex to amplify the extraordinary individuals and organizations finding solutions to protect the environment, it was a natural next step to bring these efforts to life in an immersive audio experience,” states Scott Weisenthal, head of The Washington Post Creative Group.

Weisenthal adds: “Through this podcast series, we will dive deeper into the work of the Rolex Laureates who are climate pioneers, exploring their backgrounds, motivations, project focus and future ambitions.”
