ESPN, the NCAA and CBS, the latter holding broadcast rights to the NCAA Tournament, agreed to air the first game of the men's tournament, the game between the 64th- and 65th-seeded teams, on ESPN,
even though the network doesn't officially acquire rights for that game until 2003. Last year, CBS had the game and aired it on TNN: The National Network.
