KFC, part of YUM! Brands has put its U.S. media and creative accounts into review. Annual media spending by the fast-food chicken chain is about $170 million according to COMvergence.
Wieden + Kennedy is the incumbent for the consolidated account, having won creative duties in 2015.
In 2018 it added the U.S. media assignment when KFC shifted it from Publicis Groupe’s Spark Foundry.
Confirming the review, a spokesperson for KFC said, “Since 2015, W+K has been a valuable part of our brand turnaround, creating memorable campaigns that grew brand consideration and sales. We are proud of what we have achieved together.”
The spokesperson added that the agency is being invited to defend the account. The agency is expected to participate in the review.
