Nine percent of U.S. Web users made online donations in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, according to a new report by the Pew Internet & American Life Project. The report, based on a September telephone
survey of 2,251 Web users, also found that 50 percent of Web users got news online about the hurricane. Of the group that went online for news, 73 percent went to Web sites of major news
organizations, such as CNN.com and MSNBC.com.
