Whole Foods Co-Founder To Retire

John Mackey, CEO of Whole Foods Market, which he co-founded in 1980, will retire Sept. 1, 2022. He will be replaced by current chief operating officer, Jason Buechel. “Mackey, who turned 68 this year, handpicked Buechel as his successor,” per Supermarket News. Buechel joined Whole Foods in 2013 as global vice president and chief information officer and was promoted in 2015 to executive vice president before being named chief operating officer in 2019.
