The Immigrant Spirit of an Entrepreneur

Behind the Scenes with Ming Zhao

Proven Skincare's Ming Zhao talks

MediaPost's Insider Summits bring together marketing executives from major brands to share their insights and strategies, and we've had the incredible opportunity to connect and learn from each of them. In the process we've discovered some truly impressive women, and not just for the work they do but their stories behind the scenes. With Insider Summit: BTS, our own Lisa Singer pulls back the curtain on some of the most influential women marketers, as they talk about their path to success: the twists and turns, obstacles, inspirations and the valuable lessons learned along the way.

Born in China, Ming Zhao says it was her “immigrant spirit” that helped give her the courage to start her own company, “It's very similar; you don't have resources, you don't know where to begin, you don't know what to do, you don't know the plan, but you know let's do what we can today.” And the self-described “beauty outsider” continues to do that as CEO & co-founder of Proven Skincare. In this episode of Insider Summit: BTS Ming talks with Lisa about being advised to delay Proven’s launch because she was “visibly pregnant,” shares an entrepreneur’s must-have mindset, and reveals her true secret weapon. You can watch the video of the entire conversation here.
