AOL Mobile Search Leaves Beta

  • December 1, 2005
AOL today is expected to launch its suite of mobile search services, which have been in beta testing since July. Mobile phones, smartphones and PDAs can access the mobile search site, which incorporates AOL's Web search, Pinpoint Shopping--AOL's comparison shopping search engine--and Mobile AOL Yellow Pages, a local search service. The Web search service employs a re-coding technology from InfoGin Ltd. which re-sizes pages returned in the search results to be compatible with wireless devices, so that users can view any page from their phones, not just those that are WAP-enabled.
