Active Interest Media Names 2 New Vice Presidents

Active Interest Media, the diversified special-interest B2C media company, promoted two staffers to newly created vice president positions. Both posts were effective immediately and filled from within.

Julie Zub becomes vice president of AIM events, overseeing the company’s Marine Group’s portfolio. It includes Trawler Fests in Stuart, Florida and Baltimore, plus a Marine Group Flea Market in Fort Lauderdale, the Angler’s Journal Fishing Tour and the Marine Group Pavilion at the Miami Boat Show.

Her responsibilities include strategic planning and profit/loss management for event attendance promotion and registration, education and seminar planning and programming, and hospitality and on-site operations.

She will also provide strategic and operations assistance to the Home Group events, including the Writer’s Digest conferences and the Traditional Building Conference Series. The Home Group plans to produce two new events in 2023.

Zub will report to Gary DeSanctis, president of AIM’s Marine Group. She will have a dotted line to Peter Miller, president of the Home Group.

Also, Amanda Phillips becomes vice president of marketing for AIM, moving up from the post of director of Catapult Creative Labs, the company’s marketing services division. In her new role, Phillips will continue to provide marketing services for outside clients and also direct strategic marketing and operations for the Marine and Home Groups. She will report to both group presidents, as well as leading AIM’s corporate marketing initiatives.

AIM has rebranded the Catapult unit to Marine Group Marketing Services and Home Group Marketing Services. This better conveys the home and marine market knowledge that Phillips’s team of editors, copywriters, designers, digital producers and project managers bring to clients.

AIM characterizes itself as one of the world’s leading participant media companies. Its brands include Anglers Journal, Yachts International, Sail, Power & Motoryacht, Yachts International, Soundings, Trade Only, Passagemaker, Woodshop News, Log Home Living, Old House Journal, Woodsmith, Garden Gate, Cuisine at Home, Writer’s Digest, Horticulture, Popular Woodworking, Numismatic News, and more.

The company’s four divisions — the Home Group, Home Arts, Collectibles and Marine Group — also operate B2B platforms, online universities, retail events and marketing services.
