Hyundai Rebrands Used Vehicle Program, Ford Adds Trial Period

Hyundai Motor America is rebranding its certified pre-owned program and introducing a new tagline, while Ford Motor Co. is restructuring its offerings.

Hyundai Certified Used Vehicles promises customers “the best of what’s next!” per the new tag.  The new program name and tagline launched Feb.1 and are the result of “extensive” consumer market research, according to the automaker.

The name change is designed to make it easier for customers to understand the program and add confidence to their used vehicle ownership experience, per Hyundai. The rebrand will be supported by a marketing campaign that includes an updated website, video content, point-of-sale materials, and social media marketing.

The website includes details on Hyundai’s 10-year/100,000-mile warranty, including a comparison chart showing how it measures up to other automakers. The program, which requires a 173-point inspection, has expanded the list of vehicles that are eligible, now including cars and trucks with up to 80,000 miles and fewer than six model years.

Meanwhile, Ford is adding a 14-day, 1,000-mile money-back guarantee to its Blue Advantage Certified Used Car program.

Ford’s program has two tiers.

Gold-level cars are newer than six years old and have fewer than 80,000 miles on them. They are covered by a 12-month, 12,000-mile limited warranty and a seven-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Blue-level cars can be up to 10 years old and have as many as 120,000 miles on the counter. They are covered by a 90-day, 4,000-mile limited warranty.
