KeyBank Aims To Transcend Typical Tropes Of Financial Ads

KeyBank’s new ads show people addressing others, opening a flower shop and eating lunch. The spots are free of the typical tropes of banking ads and feature uplifting music: “Roll Up Your Sleeves” by Meg Mac.

In seeking to transcend most bank advertising, the spot, via Fallon, asks “Why are we so invested in our communities?” and then answers: "They’re our communities, too.”

Another ad, featuring a voiceover from Katey Sagal, shows people dealing with unexpected expenses, like back-to-back college expenses and the prospect of becoming a homeowner before age 30.

The ads continue the “KeyBank Opens Doors” platform originally launched in 2020.
