Starbucks Leader Critical of Unions

Starbucks founder and interim CEO Howard Schutz made his dislike of unions clear during a recent town hall meeting with employees. He said companies are being “assaulted” by the “threat” of unionization and that SBWorkers United — which represents nine Starbucks locations across the country — is “an outside organization trying to take our people.” But according to union workers, Starbucks has “temporarily closed locations, overstaffed stores and sent executives around for surprise visits to stores that have been considering representation,” per Nation’s Restaurant News.
