Bellabeat, the women’s tech and wellness company, is highlighting gender bias in a new “The Present Is Female” Campaign.”
The focus is illustrating how women’s main physiological differences from men are still somehow neglected or treated with double standards.
Creative, done in-house by the Bellabeat team, utilizes social media on IG and YouTube. Its “She Can Conquer” video (above) asked four accomplished women relevant female-focused questions. The initial women are USA Athlete Chari Hawkins, holistic nutritionist Syana Taylor, CEO of Dolce Glow Isabell Alysa and entrepreneur Kornelija Slunjski, better known on social media as Koko Beaute
New women will be highlighted each month, as the campaign is ongoing.
The push for gender equality is pressing, as the stats are sobering: Thirteen countries do not have laws to ensure equal pay for equal work among men and women. Some 104 countries make specific jobs off-limits for women, while only one in five C-suite leaders in corporate America is female.
The World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report 2021 indicates it will take 135.6 years to close the gender gap worldwide.
“A significant element of women's equality overall, gender parity has a fundamental bearing on whether or not economies and societies thrive,” said Urska Srsen, co-founder of Bellabeat Inc. “It’s so important for us to change the narrative from the future is female to the present is female.”
That explains Bellabeat’s official 2022 theme: Break the bias.
“There are still so many battles and biases from women in sports, to wages, to the most radical part of the world where women are still lacking the most basic rights,” added Bellabeat co-founder Sandro Mur. “We are doing hyper-focused work surrounding the Bellabeat Ivy, cycle tracking, and menopause symptoms. It was essential for us to focus on the physiological differences between women and men (cycle/hormonal) and the biases that come along with them.”
Bellabeat Inc. is a Silicon Valley company building tech-powered wellness products for women. The Bellabeat team previously released the Leaf health-tracking jewelry for women and the first smart water bottle powered by AI.
