Steinlauf Named Chief U.S. Ad Sales Officer Of Warner Bros. Discovery

Adding to its incoming senior executive roster, Warner Bros. Discovery has named Jon Steinlauf chief U.S. advertising sales officer.

He will report to Bruce Campbell, who has been named chief revenue and strategy officer for Warner Bros. Discovery.

Steinlauf has been chief U.S. advertising sales officer at Discovery Inc. -- overseeing ad sales as well as starting new revenue streams. His responsibilities also included research, marketing and branded entertainment, pricing and planning, and inventory control.

Before coming to Discovery in 2018, Steinlauf was president of advertising sales at Scripps Networks. He also was vice president of advertising sales for Turner Broadcasting’s TBS and TNT networks and director of advertising sales at ESPN.

Prior to these TV network sales positions, he began his career as a media buyer at Young & Rubicam.

The soon-to-be Warner Bros. Discovery has been estimated at an initial combined advertising revenue of $10 billion.

Last month, under the direction of Steinlauf, Discovery Inc. said it would be teaming with third-party measurement companies and a major media agency -- Omnicom Media Group -- in a trial to develop new currencies for advertisers for the upcoming television upfront advertising market.

In January, WarnerMedia said it would be developing advertiser currency in a similar effort, working with Comscore, iSpot.TV and VideoAmp.
