My Code Acquires Majority Stake In Impremedia

The digital-media platform My Code, which focuses on reaching multicultural audiences, announced on Tuesday it had acquired a majority ownership stake in the Hispanic news company Impremedia. With the acquisition, My Code becomes the owner of  the second-largest owned and operated digital Hispanic portfolio in the country behind Univision. 

Impremedia’s Spanish-language daily newspapers and digital media outlets include the Spanish-language daily newspaper La Opinión; El Diario, the oldest daily in the United States for Spanish speakers; La Raza in Chicago; and La Opinión de la Bahía in San Francisco. Its portfolio of digital media outlets and lifestyle brands reach 35 million users each month. Impremedia is based in Brooklyn.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Impremedia CEO Iván Adaime will continue to lead Impremedia’s media brands. All of Impremedia’s employees have been asked to continue with the merged company.

Combining Impremedia’s iconic media properties with My Code’s platform and resources will supercharge the ability to connect, inform, support and engage in this vital space, Morse added.

Adaime said the scale that My Code has built to connect with Hispanic audiences across different segments is an impressive feat in the current media landscape. “The combination of Impremedia and My Code deepens our relationship with the Hispanic community and amplifies our impact through the community.”
