Montreal's Plus Company Buys Mekanism, Taps Whipple As Board Chair

Montreal-based Plus Company, an alliance of agencies formed last fall, announced today that it has acquired creative ad agency Mekanism.  Terms weren’t disclosed. 

The company also disclosed that Brian Whipple, the former CEO of Accenture Interactive has joined the company as chairman of the board. 

The Plus Company is led by CEO Brett Marchand, who previously led Vision7 and Cossette, now part of the alliance, which spans 20 agencies comprised of more than 3,000 staff in 12 countries spanning North America, Europe, The Middle East and Asia Pacific. 

In addition to Cossette participating agencies include We Are Social and its sister agencies, Socialize, Hello and Metta; fuseproject; All Inclusive Marketing (AIM), Camp Jefferson, Citizen Relations, Cossette Media, Eleven, Gene Global, Impact Research, Jungle Media, K72, Level Eleven, Magnet, Middle Child, PathIQ, Septième, and The Narrative Group (TNG).

And now Mekansim, which has offices in New York, San Francisco, Seattle and Chicago. It was founded in San Francisco in 2000. Co-founder Jason Harris has led the agency as CEO since 2006. Clients include Quaker, Amazon, Jose Cuervo, Stitch Fix, Alaska Airlines, Charles Schwab and OkCupid.

"When we first launched Plus Company, we set our sights on expanding our capability and international footprint as our first priority, and today's announcements represent the continuation of our ambitious plan and will help to build on our momentum," Marchand stated.
