Atlantic Selects Barbosa As First Managing Director

Suzanne Barbosa has been named Atlantic New York’s first managing director. She will work alongside João Coutinho and Marco Pupo, who co-founded the agency in 2021.

Most recently, Barbosa was at MullenLowe NY as vice president-group account director, working on Unilever, Bayer and Edgewell Personal Care. Previously, she worked at Grey New York and handled assignments for Gillette, Revlon, UNICEF and FedEx.

The Atlantic’s ongoing roster includes Yahoo, Twitter, Prime Video and Amour 781.

Co-founder Marco Pupo said Barbosa "not only brings a ton of experience in client relationships and operations to our agency, but also an incredible energy and willingness to improve important aspects of our industry — one of the main goals we have at Atlantic."

Cuutinho adds Atlantic was looking for "someone with very specific skills — someone with a creatively driven approach to account services."

The agency is housed in a 1938 oil tanker, The Mary A. Whalen, in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

The creative agency was founded in 2021 by ad veterans Pupo and Coutinho. The agency is also one of the founding partners of By The Network, a global network of independent companies formed by Per Pedersen, former chairman and global CCO of Grey Group.
