'Washington Post' Names Ashley Parker As Senior National Political Correspondent

Ashley Parker has been named senior national political correspondent at The Washington Post, moving on from her role as White House bureau chief for the Post, in which she has served since January 2021.  

Parker will be at the head of the Post’s coverage of the midterm elections and the 2024 presidential campaign. 

Prior to becoming White House bureau chief, Parker was White House reporter, and covered the Trump administration through its four-year term. . 

This year, Parker was part of the Post team that won a Pulitzer Prize for Public Service, the George Polk Award for national reporting, and the Robin Toner Prize for Excellence in Political Reporting for coverage of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, its causes, costs and aftermath.

In addition, Parker was part of the team that won a Pulitzer for National Reporting and a George Polk Award in 2018 for its coverage of Russian interference in the 2016 election. And, with Philip Rucker, Parker shared the Gerald R. Ford Journalism Prize for distinguished reporting on the presidency in 2017.

Parker joined the Post in 2017 after 17 years at The New York Times.
