Toyota, U-Haul, Tyson Foods Support Areas Affected By Catastrophic Flooding

Several major companies are stepping up to assist those affected by catastrophic flooding in Eastern Kentucky.

Toyota Motor North America donated $500,000 to The Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky – Flood Relief Fund to assist with both immediate needs and long-term recovery efforts.

The automaker is also donating $250,000 to SBP, its longstanding disaster resilience, response and recovery partner, to help guide survivors as they navigate the federal funding application and appeals processes, share on-line recovery, and work with high-risk communities on how to mitigate and prepare for future disasters.

U-Haul is making six facilities across Kentucky and Tennessee available to provide 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box container usage to assist residents in the recovery process following severe flooding in the region.

Tyson Foods is donating two million meals and deploying other disaster relief efforts to support storm victims, volunteers and first responders in Hazard, Kentucky and surrounding areas devastated by the recent flooding.

The company is partnering with Walmart to help distribute more than 500,000 pounds of protein to feed those in need in the area. Plans are also underway to provide food and assistance to additional communities in need.

Recent storms have caused extensive home damage and left standing water in many communities across eastern Kentucky and Tennessee. Flooding rendered roads impassable, destroyed bridges and even swept away some homes.

The flooding death toll remains at 37 but now heat is a big concern, according to state officials.

Toyota employees are also rallying to support immediate needs through donation drives. The automaker also is providing double-matching contributions for all donations made by U.S.-based employees to support The Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky, SBP and The American Red Cross. Additionally, Toyota will match all contributions made by its dealer partners as a part of the effort.

Toyota Financial Services is offering payment relief options to its impacted customers. This outreach includes any Toyota Financial Services (TFS) or Lexus Financial Services (LFS) customer in the designated disaster areas.
