Crunchyroll Refuses Tutanota Email Signups: Report

Crunchyroll, the anime streaming service, does not like Tutanota. It is not accepting Tutanota email signups due to its fear of being hacked.

Tutanota is an email service similar to Proton Mail, which provides greater security than traditional email platforms, according to FOSS News, which broke the story.

But Crunchyroll apparently does not agree.

“We are receiving reports from our users that @Crunchyroll is not allowing the use of Tutanota email addresses when signing up for their service,” Tutanota tweeted last week.

It continued: “After contacting their team requesting that our domains be unblocked we received the following response:

“The ban on your domains is because we encountered a lot of hackers that used your domains emails to hack our accounts.”

Earlier in the threat, Tutanota tweeted: “You should not need to disregard your own personal privacy to access an online streaming service. The desire for online privacy does not make you a criminal!

Crunchymail ended its message to Tutanota by saying “Have an amazing weekend.”
