Golfer Patrick Reed Files $250M Libel Suit

Golf star Patrick Reed, who is already pursuing a $750 million libel suit against Golf Channel, LIV Golf critic Brandel Chamblee and other individuals and media outlets, has filed a new lawsuit against Hachette, the New York Post, Fox Sports, golf writers Shane Ryan, Doug Ferguson and the Associated Press, for $250 million, according to GolfMagic.

The cause: "Tortious interference over what he claims are 'malicious false publications, all of which were designed to severely harm Mr Reed, his family and colleagues personally and professionally," said Reed’s lawyer Larry Klayman in announcing the action on Wednesday, GolfMagic reports.

The earlier case was originally filed in Texas in August, then moved to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Other defendants were added to it, including Golf Channel commentators Damon Hack, Shane Bacon and Eamon Lynch, and Golfweek and its parent Gannet.

Chamblee, Hack, Bacon and Lynch and the PGA Tour are accused of "conspiracy, defamation, injurious falsehood and tortious interference" over allegations that Reed cheated in golf tournaments.
