Launching a probiotic said to support vaginal as well as digestive health, Procter & Gamble has tabbed married pro soccer couple Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger as brand partners.

The pair are doing social posts and media interviews for P&G’s new Align Women’s Dual Action Probiotic in a campaign from Publicis Groupe’s MSL.

“Between taking care of our two awesome babies, working out, staying on track with eating healthy to fuel our bodies, and feeling the pressure of literally juggling it all, it can definitely take a toll on our entire health,” says Harris in a video posted to both athletes’ Instagram feeds. “Hey babe, don’t forget to take your Align Dual Action Probiotic,” Krieger reminds her. 

Align Women's Dual Action contains P&G’s own Bifidobacterium 35624 probiotic for digestion, La-14® & HN001 probiotics for vaginal health, and Chaste Tree botanical for monthly mood balance.

“Women not only have a gut microbiome but a vaginal microbiome as well, both of which impact overall balance,” said P&G senior scientist Chelsay Brewster in a press release. “I talked to many women and became determined to find the right botanical ingredient and probiotics to keep our bodies in balance. We handpicked these ingredients that are backed by scientific data showing that they help.”

Like all probiotic supplements, though, Align comes with the proviso that its purported health benefits “have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.”

Developed by P&G in the 1990s, Bifidobacterium 35624 went wide with the national launch of Align’s first product in 2009.

In 2020, meanwhile, P&G partnered with the DuPont Human Microbiome Venture to develop “next-generation” probiotics.

Align Women’s Dual Action Probiotic comes in both capsule and chewable versions.

P&G’s Align line also includes Align Baby Probiotic, Colic Relief; AlignGut Health + Immunity Support Capsules; and Align DualBiotic gummies.

In addition to Align, P&G markets digestive health brands Metamucil and Pepto-Bismol.
