Johnson Newspaper Corp. To Close Massena, New York Printing Plant

The Johnson Newspaper Corp., publisher of the Watertown Daily Times, Courier-Observer, St. Lawrence Plaindealer and Ogdensburg Journal, is closing its printing operations in Massena, New York.

The company will move all of its printing to Watertown, according to North Country Now

The Massena press will probably be sold, and the building in Massena eventually closed. Some layoffs are expected.

However, the press is being used as collateral for a loan from the St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency, North Country Now continues.

“We are working with them in the short term to get a better understanding of the impact of this announcement on the company's job levels and operations in the County,” says

Patrick Kelly, CEO of St. Lawrence County, according to North Country Now.
