In an attempt to convince consumers to use its mobile app, McDonald’s is offering its SZN [for “season”] of Sharing promotion, which runs Dec. 5 through Dec. 25.
Last week the deals included Double Cheeseburgers for 50 cents. Such burgers typically cost $2.89. The next deal to be offered via the promotion was “Pick ur 4 for $4,” which provided a McDouble or McChicken along with a four-piece McNuggets and a medium drink and small fries for $4.
Later deals include a free six-piece Chicken McNuggets with a $1 minimum purchase from Dec. 15-16; and a buy one Big Mac, get one free on Dec. 19-21.
SZN of Sharing is a first-of-its-kind promotion that also provides the chance of winning the McDonald’s Gold Card, which offers two free McDonald’s meals per week for 50 years. The Gold Card came back in 2022 for the first time since 2018.
McDonald’s is giving away Gold Caards to three fans and three of their friends and family.
All these offers are available only through the mobile app. McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said in late October that about two-thirds of U.S. customers who use the app had been active on it for the previous 90 days.
The effort comes as McDonald’s recently opened a small-format store outside of Fort Worth, Texas, that caters to those who place mobile orders.
