Fortnite Partners With Top YouTuber MrBeast For $1M Cash Giveaway

Jimmy Donaldson -- also known as MrBeast, the most popular YouTuber on the planet -- announced on Monday that he will be giving away $1 million to one Fortnite player in a temporary challenge on the leading battle royale platform.

The cash giveaway may not be new for Donaldson, who has become synonymous with giving away huge sums of money (and made a reported $54 million in 2021), but it’s a new move for Epic Games influencer partnerships.

“MrBeast’s Extreme Survival Challenge” will take place on December 17 and will involve various timed challenges with $1 million for the Fortnite player who finishes with the highest score between 12 PM and 3 PM EST on that day.

Players will be able to find the challenge in the “Fortnite competitive” section of the game. The challenge island will go live on December 13, giving players time to practice before the actual competition.

To compete, players must have enabled two-factor authentication on their accounts and reached level 15.

MrBeast's Fortnite game aligns with his YouTube brand of insane challenges, such as giving away $500,000 to anyone who survives 100 days inside a giant circle.

There will be prizes for some of those who don’t win the $1 million.

The top 100,000 players, for example, will receive a special MrBeast-themed in-game umbrella. Players can also buy new MrBeast in-game skins, themed accessories, and custom emote in the item shop prior to the challenge.

Although this is the first time that Epic Games is giving away $1 million as part of an influencer partnership, the company has made a name for itself through blending its digital gaming platform with real-life celebrities. It has produced skins for stars including LeBron James, Naomi Osaka, Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak, Ariana Grande and various influencers and content creators.
