Oops: No More Snoop Loopz From Snoop Dogg And Master P

If you have a suggested name for a marshmallow-filled cereal, rappers Snoop Dogg and Master P could use your help.

In August the duo formed the CPG company Broadus Foods—Broadus being Dogg’s real last name—and launched a range of breakfast staples that included Snoop Loopz marshmallow-flavored cereal.

Last week, they took to social media to announce that because an unidentified entity has objected to the name Snoop Loopz, they were seeking public suggestions for a new moniker.

“So they don’t want us to use Snoop Loopz on our cereal box even though that’s my name,” Dogg posted on Instagram.

“We’ve built a national brand and disrupted the cereal industry, we did it with hard work and integrity. I know they’re uncomfortable and scared.”

That led to media speculation that “they” means Kellogg Company, which introduced Froot Loops cereal in 1963.

As of this writing, Kellogg had not publicly confirmed or denied having any involvement in the name change. Marketing Daily reached out to the company but had not heard back by deadline.

Although Snoop Loopz cereal launched in August, Dogg waited until last month to file for a trademark for the brand name for products that could include breakfast cereal, cereal bars and cereal-based snack foods, as reported by Benzinga.

“They can’t stop us,” Master P wrote on Instagram.

“It’s David versus Goliath. @snoopdogg and I got the slingshot. This is a minor setback for a major comeback. #GodsPlan What do YOU think we should name our new cereal?”
