Reflector Media Acquires MacObserver.com

Digital Media company Reflector Media has acquired MacObserver.com, a U.S. digital tech publication that covers Apple products and services.

Founded by David Hamilton and Bryan Chaffin in 1998 when Mac OS 8 was released and the iMac was growing in popularity, MacObserver has a wide audience of Apple podcast listeners.

Romania-based Reflector Media provides content about Microsoft's products and services, now hopes to apply “the same operational expertise to become an even better resource for the growing audience around the Apple ecosystem," states Radu Tyrsina, Founder and CEO of Reflector Media.

The MacObserver site was taken over by Dr. Serhat Kurt, editor of the International Journal of Educational Technology, in 2021. But Kurt has determined that he lacks the bandwidth to continue running it.

“Dave Hamilton built and nurtured a legacy that has influenced many of the biggest Apple media outlets,” Kurt states. “I was privileged to own it for a time, and it is with a heavy heart that I am passing it forward.”

On Monday, the site featured articles on how to change the battery settings on a Mac Notebook and erase all content and settings using macOS Ventura.

For his part, Hamilton states, “The Mac Observer still means a great deal to me, and I truly want to see it thrive. Then I found out it was Radu and his team who had acquired the business, and I couldn't be happier.”

Reflector Media claims roughly 30 million page views per month.
