Digital publisher G/O Media has named
Merrill Brown as editorial director.
Brown will oversee all G/O Media editorial newsrooms, including such diverse digital products as Gizmodo, The A.V. Club, Deadspin,
Jalopnik, Jezebel, Lifehacker, The Onion and The Inventory. G/O Media.
A journalistic veteran, Brown served as editor in chief of the media industry
magazine Channels, as senior vice president of Court TV, and as the first editor in chief of MSNBC.com.
In addition, Brown was founder and CEO of The
News Project Inc., a company created to provide technology and services to journalists, foundations, investors and others involved in the digital news business. And, he has put in advisory stints at
MedCity News, The Guardian, ABC News, National Public Radio, New York Magazine, and TV Guide.

“Merrill’s deep experience across the media
spectrum make him an invaluable addition to the G/O Media family,” said Jim Spanfeller, CEO of G/O Media, to whom Brown will report.
Brown states that he is
