Cher Horowitz, played by Alicia Silverstone, is back and ready to shop. Rakuten on Wednesday released a teaser of its game day ad ahead of Super Bowl LVII.
The 30-second spot was developed entirely in-house and is set to air during the Big Game on February 1, during the championship game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
The commercial’s teaser opens with a classroom of students talking among themselves. A school bell rings, and Horowitz emerges in a yellow plaid suit and struts down the aisle, holding one shopping bag in each hand. She hits the face of students with her shopping bags while walking down the aisle.
She reaches the front of the classroom and turns around to face the camera. “Don’t bug,” she says. “Your girl is back,” and the opening chords of “Alright” by Supergrass begin to play.
This year, Rakaten teased the ad, but in 2022 for Super Bowl LVI, Raketen shared the campaign early.
Emmy Award-winning actress Hannah Waddingham, known for her role in the Apple+ TV series "Ted Lasso," acted as the spokesperson for last year’s Super Bowl ad, playing a high roller next to hissy cat Leonardo. She raised the stakes of a poker game against a savvy Rakuten shopper.
Leonardo jumped on the poker table just as the stakes heat up. Waddingham leaned in to the cat to hear its whispers, then says: “Leonardo says it’s time to finish this.” Waddingham raised the stakes with a pair of high-heeled glittery shoes. Her opponent matched the bet and adds a robot vacuum. Waddingham added a smart 4K TV.
