Mint Mobile Casts Harvey Fierstein As Isaac Newton In New Ad

Upstart mobile service Mint Mobile won’t be taking any ads in this year’s Super Bowl, but it is humorously chiding “big wireless companies” for doing so and “wasting millions” in the process.

That’s one of the messages in a new social ad that the Ryan Reynolds-led mobile company released this week.

The company recruited four-time Tony winner Harvey Fierstein for the effort, in which Fierstein takes a crack at playing Isaac Newton. “It’s not working,” says Ryan in a stage whisper. “It was your idea,” Fierstein reminds him.

Fierstein gets in a couple of Newton related quips, like his big wireless company phone bill is “defying the laws of gravity, the prices only seem to go up.”

With those millions in savings from not advertising in the big game, Mint is helping new customers save money, the ad points out. Two offers are spelled out including a thirty- day free trial or four months of service for the price of three.
