Quillt Media Lays Off Staff Months After Purchase

Quillt Media, the creator of such online brands as Suggest.com, TravelAwaits.com, and seasons, has conducted layoffs across the company less than a year after being acquired by Saltwater, according to a local news report.

The company confirmed the layoffs to St. Louis Innobut did not mention a number.

Based in the St. Louis area, Quillt describes itself as a patchwork of media brands that “come together to create stories that matter.”

Saltwater.acquired Quillt last May. The new owner described the Quillt team as "honorable, clear and direct communicators,” and added, “they are extremely data driven and they value the impact of technology in the scaling of a business.”

Formerly named Gateway Blend, the company rebranded as Quillt in 2021.

“We have a renewed focus on making content that is meaningful to our readers and adds value to their lives," the company said. SeniorsMatter grew out of Quillt Media CEO Kasey Grelle's personal experience—in 2016, both her parents died and her husband was seriously injured in an accident. She also gave birth to her first child.

“After running the company from hospital rooms and trying to figure out how to manage all these obligations, I saw how broken the system was and how overwhelming it is to navigate as a caregiver,” Grelle said.
