McClatchy Names Robyn Tomlin Chief News Officer

McClatchy has named Robyn Tomlin chief news officer, making her responsible for all news, opinion and multimedia content across the McClatchy network.

With this appointment, effective immediately, Tomlin will be part of McClatchy’s five-person executive leadership team.

Previously, Tomlin served as vice president for local news at McClatchy. She also has been president and editor of The News & Observer of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Southeast Region editor for McClatchy. 

In addition, Tomlin has held senior leadership roles at The Dallas Morning News, the Pew Research Center, Digital First Media’s Project Thunderdome and with the NY Times Regional Media Group.

Tomlin says she and the hundreds of journalists across McClatchy will “work together to become the premier digital portals for high-impact news and information in all of the communities we serve." 

McClatchy’s network consists of 30 local news sites and affiliated brands.
