Nielsen-Funded Council Issues RFP, Plans To 'Map' Consumer Use Of Media

  • January 11, 2006
The Nielsen-funded Council for Research Excellence has issued a request for proposals for its first major independent research initiative. The project, a "comprehensive and ongoing study of media consumption," is intended to reveal how consumers currently consume media, how it is evolving, and how it will continue to evolve over time. Elements of the research are expected to touch on "media satisfaction" and engagement, the use of new technologies, as well as a "map of consumers' use of media by time of day and season of year." Deadline for proposals is Feb. 10. Other projects earmarked by not yet requested by the council touch on more methodological issues, such as "non-response" and "valid use of data." The research is being funded by a multimillion grant from Nielsen Media Research.
