Litmus Offers Tools To Help People With Color Vision Deficiency Access Emails

Email marketing platform Litmus has introduced new Dark Mode Coding and Visual Impairment Filters to boost email accessibility for subscribers.

The goal is to help 350 million people worldwide with color vision deficiency.

Litmus internal data shows that 40% of subscribers viewed emails in Dark Mode in 2022.

"Email inclusivity and accessibility is always important, but it’s not always easy,” says Maida Kasper, vice president of Product & Growth at Litmus. “Every subscriber has different needs and preferences and there’s no ‘one size fits all’ approach to email design.”

The Dark Mode Coding Experience and Visual Impairment Filters features empower marketers to:

  • Ensure Dark Mode compatibility.
  • View common color vision deficiency renderings.
  • Consistently adhere to accessibility best practices.

Users can preview emails by toggling one of four color vision deficiency filters and receive a summary of the color vision experience, the company says.

Kasper adds that marketers “need tools to ensure messages are accessible before they hit send.”
