Subway is celebrating Easter in the U.K. with an
unusual sandwich featuring a Cadbury Crème Egg filling.
The chain launched the sandwich on Good Friday, but only 500 are being made. They will be handed out for free at the restaurants on April 7.
“Our Italian White Bread and Cadbury Creme Eggs make the most flavoursome combination -- a perfect seasonal treat,” said Rusty Warren, senior new product development and product innovation manager at Subway, in a press release.
Charlotte Docker, brand executive for Cadbury Creme Egg, noted the “surprisingly delicious merging of sweet and savoury.”
Some Twitter users agreed. “That looks amazing,” wrote one. “I’d be all over that.”
Not everyone was so welcoming. One Twitter user said, “This is the grossest thing Subway’s ever done and that’s saying a lot.”
“Yeah, it’s really gross,” said another.
