Lincoln Nautilus Offers 'Sanctuary For Senses'

The 2024 Lincoln Nautilus takes the brand’s promise of “sanctuary” to a new level, offering an in-cabin experience that includes special lighting and a selection of digitally provided scents.

The automaker has created a two-minute-long video to introduce the vehicle’s new assets on social media. Media were given an embargoed first look at the vehicle last week in Detroit.

The midsize luxury SUV was designed to attract new, younger and more diverse customers to the brand, says Jake Isaac, Lincoln Nautilus brand marketing manager.

“These customers want to embrace the world and find balance,” Isaac says. “They love to explore and they are drawn to new places and experiences. This Nautilus will be the standpoint vehicle for them to enable their next adventure.”

The medium premium utility vehicle segment is where Lincoln sees real growth opportunity, Isaac says.

“The segment as a whole continues to grow, now representing 43% of premium industry sales,” he says. “And Nautilus is the exact product we need to capture more of the supporting segment.”

The SUV takes "sanctuary" into the connected future, with features to mmerse users in the “rejuvenating power of sight, sound, touch and scent,” Isaac says.

Available as part of “Lincoln Rejuvenate” and as a standalone feature, the Nautilus will offer three scent cartridges housed in the center armrest that can be controlled digitally much the same way heated seats can be turned on or off.

Mystic Forest is described as an earthy blend, while Ozonic Azure is a crisp blend of aromatic patchouli and traces of bright violet, Finally, Violet Cashmere offers “exotic white florals... as crisp and refined as fresh linen,” per the automaker.

Other available features include Lincoln BlueCruise 1.2 hands-free highway driver-assist system and an optional 2.0-liter turbocharged hybrid engine.

Inside, the Nautilus showcases a flowing, horizontal instrument panel integrated into the immersive display – the largest in its class– introducing new levels of connectivity and personalization.

The cabin features ambient lighting along with “crystal-inspired details throughout the vehicle that capture the essence of seeing sun reflected on water – a piano key shifter, instrument panel toggles and audio knob that shimmer.”

A flat-top steering wheel allows drivers to see over, not through the wheel, giving an overall effect of comfortable openness.

The new signature lighting elements represent the brand’s lighting vision for the future, connecting the lit Lincoln star and signature front light bar.

The global Nautilus will arrive in North America showrooms in early 2024, and online ordering is now open.

The scent cartridges can be refilled in the inside cover of the center console.
