CNN's Trump Town Hall Earns 3.31M Viewers

CNN's Wednesday night “Republican Presidential Town Hall” event featuring an interview with former President Donald Trump posted 3.31 million Nielsen measured viewers -- helping CNN win the night.

The Trump town hall was second best to CNN's “Joe Biden Town Hall” event in 2020, which averaged 3.47 million viewers.

On the night, the Trump program ranked third best among all cable TV network programs.

Two TNT NBA Playoff games did better, with the Los Angeles Lakers-Golden State Warriors (10:08 PM) averaging 7.6 million viewers. This followed the Miami Heat-New York Knicks (7:30 PM), which earned 4.4 million viewers.

Overall, CNN won the night in prime time among all cable TV networks. It averaged 2.3 million viewers, which bested cable TV news networks Fox News Channel (1.7 million) and MSNBC (1.5 million).

CNN posted the best prime-time (8-11 pm) results since the midterm election on November 8, 2022 -- when it earned 2.6 million viewers.

When including digital live streaming viewership, the Trump Town Hall event averaged 3.4 million viewers -- ninth best among all town hall-type events, according to CNN.

CNN says the Trump town hall program earned more adult 25-54 viewers than the first Trump town hall program in 2020 that aired on Fox News Channel -- 781,000 versus 744,000.
