Interpublic’s FCB New York led the industry with 11 Gold Pencils in The One Show 2023, the organization announced today, ahead of tomorrow night’s special 50th anniversary awards ceremony at Hammerstein Ballroom during Creative Week in New York. Best of Show, Best of Discipline, special awards, and “of the Year” honors will also be unveiled.

FCB New York was awarded 10 One Show Gold Pencils for “McEnroe vs McEnroe” on behalf of AB InBev/Michelob ULTRA, including three in Branded Entertainment, two each in Creative Use of Data and Interactive, Online & Mobile, and one each in Experiential & Immersive, Integrated, and Out of Home. “McEnroe vs McEnroe” was the piece of work to win the most Golds this year.
Separately the agency won a Gold working with Wave Studios for Spotify’s “A Song For Every CMO - Mastercard” in Radio & Audio. In addition to its Gold Pencils, the agency won seven Silver, five Bronze, and 24 Merits.
BBDO Toronto, working with TA2 Sound & Music Toronto, picked up nine Gold Pencils for Muskrat Magazine’s “Missing Matoaka”, including two each in Branded Entertainment and Experiential & Immersive, and one each in Cultural Driver, Interactive & Mobile Craft, Music & Sound Craft, Public Relations, and Radio & Audio. The work also won two Silver Pencils, three Bronze, and two Merits in the ADC Awards.
BETC Paris was awarded eight Gold Pencils. Three of the Golds were for Women in Games “Gender Swap” (one each in Branded Entertainment, Direct Marketing, and Public Relations), two each were for Canal+ “The Secret of Wakany” (with Gum Paris and Partizan Paris, both in Film & Video) and Duolingo "The Tattoo Duo Over” (with Voir Pictures Paris, both in Social Media), and one was for Lacoste “Unexpected Encounters” in Out of Home.
Virtue Copenhagen received seven Gold Pencils, all for “Backup Ukraine” on behalf of Polycam, Unesco and Blue Shield. Three of the Golds were in Interactive & Mobile Craft, two in Public Relations, and one each in Creative Use of Data and Direct Marketing.
Tied with six One Show Golds Pencils each were Area 23 New York, Ogilvy Group Thailand Bangkok, and We Believers New York. Five Golds each went to adam&eveDDB London, Apple London, Duolingo Pittsburgh, Rethink in Toronto, Montréal and Vancouver, and VMLY&R New York.
