Behind the Scenes with Esi Eggleston Bracey
Unilever's Esi Eggeleston Bracey talks about managing insecurities, honing her purpose, and being brave enough to follow one's passion.
I've had the opportunity to connect with and learn from executives of major brands at MediaPost's Insider Summits. In the process I've discovered some truly impressive women -- not only for the work they do, but their stories behind the scenes. With Brand Insider: BTS, I get to pull back the curtain on some of the most influential women marketers as they talk about their path to success: the twists and turns, obstacles, inspirations and the valuable lessons learned along the way.
“When I came into corporate America…the first thing I did was think that who I was was not corporate, so I didn't feel like I could bring myself to the workplace. I wore a straight brown bob, little glasses, and wore a very…conservative suit, and, basically, I just wanted to blend in.” Well, Esi Eggleston Bracey definitely stopped blending in. The now President of Unilever USA & CEO, Unilever Personal Care, NA, decided she was no longer going to hide herself trying to be someone else. In this episode of Brand Insider: BTS, Esi admits it wasn’t easy. Always an advocate for the underserved, she realized she needed to do the same for herself. The self-proclaimed “accidental executive” also talks about finding her purpose, passion power, and allowing herself to laugh in the office. You can watch the entire conversation here:
