Yahoo has named Connie Loizos, founder of StrictlyVC and a veteran of TechCrunch, as editor-in-chief and general manager of TechCrunch.
In addition, Yahoo will acquire StrictlyVC, a daily newsletter focused on the venture capital industry, and incorporate it into the TechCrunch portfolio. StrictlyVC, which was founded by Loizos in 2013, will become a sub-brand of TechCrunch.
Loizos has served as Silicon Valley editor of TechCrunch, a publication covering the high-tech field, since 2015.
Prior to founding StrictlyVC, Loizos covered technology for Thomson Reuters, San Jose Mercury News, Dow Jones, Time Inc., and Crain Communications.
Loizos succeeds Matthew Panzarino, who will continue as an advisor to Yahoo and TechCrunch, as TechCrunch editor-in-chief.
"Connie is a deeply respected voice in the startup and venture capital worlds, where so many begin their day reading StrictlyVC,” says Jim Lanzone, CEO of Yahoo.
