It is safe to say we won’t be seeing the end of the fried chicken craze anytime soon.
A new survey commissioned by Louisiana Fish Fry Products only solidified what many QSRs already know: People LOVE fried chicken. The survey, released today on what is unofficially now known as National Fried Chicken Sandwich Day, revealed that 79% of consumers said they craved fried chicken at least once a month or more, while two in five said they craved it at least once a week.
The results also showed that more than half of those surveyed (53%) typically eat fried chicken sandwiches two to three times a month or more. When asked about preferred toppings, consumers ranked lettuce (48%), tomato (39%) and cheese (37%) as their top choices.
And although price may be an issue, it doesn’t appear to be dampening customers’ desire for the fried bird. Nearly two out of three consumers (65%) said they most often order chicken in some variety -- either sandwiches, tenders, or nuggets -- at fast-food establishments, yet 84% of consumers also believe that fast food has gotten too expensive.

And despite the price concerns, people aren’t making more fried chicken at home. Three in five people say they prepare fried chicken at home just once a month or less. But it’s not that they don’t want to try; more than three in four (77%) say they wish they could replicate the texture and flavor of their favorite fast-food chain's fried chicken at home (and thus would eat more fried chicken if they could).
So what is a company named Louisiana Fish Fry Products doing with a study on chicken? The CPG brand supplies Louisiana-inspired breadings & batters, boil seasonings, sauces, and spices for both chicken and fish.
Over 2,000 people in the U.S. were asked their opinions on their fried chicken consumption habits and preferences for the survey.
