Ad revenue at Microsoft's MSN surged by 12 percent last quarter, but that increase wasn't enough to offset dwindling Internet access fees. Overall, quarterly revenues totaled $593 million last
quarter, marking a 2 percent drop from the $606 million in revenue the division took in during the last three months of 2004. For the year, the ranks of MSN Internet access subscribers dwindled to 2.4
million last year--31 percent less than the 3.5 million subscribers at the end of 2004, the company reported in its stock filing last week. That loss wasn't enough to offset a 12 percent increase in
ad revenues--and overall, MSN revenues totaled $593 million, marking a 2 percent drop since 2004.
