Second Annual Heroes Of Media Awards To Be Presented At Cannes

Hero Media will host the second annual Heroes of Media Awards Dinner at the Cannes Festival of Creativity on June 18 at the Carlton Cannes.  

This year’s honorees include Shannon Sharpe, three-time Super Bowl Champion and Pro Football Hall of Famer who will receive the “Impact Award.” Cathy Hughes and Alfred C. Liggins III, Founders of Urban One, are recipients of a “Lifetime Achievement Award.” Tariq Hassan, senior vice president/Chief Marketing & Customer Experience Officer, McDonald’s USA will receive the “Brand Champion Award,” and DJ and activist Derrick “D-Nice” Jones, will be presented with the “Vanguard Award.”  



The awards celebrate diverse luminaries in the industry who prioritize economic advancement in diverse media, creators and technology.   

Which is also what Hero Media is all about. It was established by ad agency owner Joe Anthony in 2022. He founded ad agency Hero Collective in 2015.  

The awards ceremony is sponsored by Shipt, Omnicom PR Group (OPRG), and P&G, and will be followed by an afterparty sponsored by Yahoo at the Martinez Beach.  

Last year’s Honorees included Eden Bridegman-Sklenar of Ebony and Jet, Eric Austin of P&G, and Halle Berry, Academy Award-winning actor and founder of Re-Spin, a media platform aimed at advancing the careers of diverse women.
